    VESPER
    Oct 26 digital, physical after
    via 2 Heads

The Virginia-born, Los Angeles-based collaborator and performer with Lucy Dacus, Dijon, and more presents VESPER, his 26-minute, 17-track instrumental album built on improvisation and a first-thought-best-thought approach. This is the second release from 2 Heads, the new label from Jenn Wasner (Flock of Dimes, Sylvan Esso, Bon Iver).

The record features an inspired performance from legendary drummer and fellow Virginia native Nate Smith (Brittany Howard, Childish Gambino, Pat Metheny), recorded in one fully improvised take at Spacebomb Studios in Richmond, VA. VESPER is being announced and released across all digital platforms today, with LP preorders available via 2 Heads Bandcamp, shipping out in early 2027.

To match the album’s improvisational spirit, OTIUM shot a video of musician and visual artist Wes Parker (also Alan’s brother) creating the VESPER cover artwork while listening to the album for the first time.
